Feldenkrais ~ Awareness Through Movement

Do you feel tightness in your shoulders? Or is your spine stiff when you get up in the morning? Do you spend too much time sitting (in front of the computer) and feel it’s causing you discomfort or pain in certain body parts? If you want to experience a lightness of being, if you want to playfully explore how to improve your body movements, if you want to expand your repertoire of movements, if you want to do something about body parts which don’t feel good anymore or cause pain – then the Feldenkrais Method is a good and safe way to work with your body. 

You will learn how to discover and sense how your body moves. You will explore how to minimize effort and increase efficiency, how to improve your body’s flexibility and coordination capabilities, how to get rid of old movement patterns which don’t do you any good and replace them with new ones. 

The Feldenkrais Method works with the brain’s ability to learn new things and create new neural connections (neuroplasticity). Everyone can learn regardless of his/her age and state of fitness. The lessons are mostly in a lying position on a mat. Participants follow the verbal instructions of the Feldenkrais teacher at their own pace and ability. Your increased ability to sense your body will follow you during the day and help you discover new things about yourself.

Starting on Tuesday, November 12th we will be offering a series of four Feldenkrais classes at Studio Namaste. They will be held weekly on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm.
