My journey to yoga began in 2003 when I was interested in taking up an activity to offset the intense job I had doing therapy with young children with autism. Starting from practicing Bikram, then Iyengar, Sivananda and later Vinyasa I have explored various forms of Hatha Yoga. After ten years of practicing different styles of yoga I decided to complete my teacher training with Tribe Yoga, focusing on hatha yoga (mixed styles). This was a turning point in my yogic path.
After my teacher training in 2013, yoga has become a constant part of my life. Since then I have regularly taught yoga part time. I was lucky to be able to travel to India where I practiced Ashtanga Yoga in Mysore and also assisted at a yoga teacher training in Goa. I have attended a variety of workshops and trainings to supplement my initial training, learning from inspiring teachers around the world such as Hart Lazer, Tiffany Cruikshank, and Jules Mitchell.
In addition to learning how to teach yoga to adults, I have also done two different courses on how to teach yoga to children (Kidding Around Yoga, Yoga for the Special Child). I am particularly passionate about working with children with special needs. I recently did a week long training to be certified to teach yoga to children with special needs. I look forward to exploring this aspect of teaching yoga in the near future.
